How to plan an Emerald team

Start with Pokémon you want to use, then make one change at a time when the analysis reveals a repeated weakness.

  1. Pick a starter. Add Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip and treat it as the first anchor for your lineup.
  2. Add complementary types. Look for teammates that resist attacks threatening multiple current members.
  3. Check the final six. Open Team Analysis, review red tallies, then copy the URL to save the team.

Useful checks for a Hoenn playthrough

Emerald asks you to move through varied routes and a Water-heavy late game. Type balance helps, but moves, abilities, and HM planning still need a separate check.

Avoid stacked weaknesses

If several members share a weakness to Water, Ground, Electric, or Ice, add a reliable resistance rather than another attacker with the same problem.

Cover common matchups

Electric- or Grass-type coverage can help against Water types, while Ice coverage is useful against several late-game threats.

Plan beyond typing

The builder does not evaluate abilities, exact movesets, held items, or field moves. Confirm those details before training the final team.
